Udo Schenatzky
Udo Schenatzky was born in Germany in 1964. He began playing and learning the game of soccer at his hometown club SV 06 Alsfeld (like a Rockledge Soccer Club or Oldsmar Soccer Club). Over the years Udo improved and excelled as a goalkeeper and was scouted and signed by historic German 3rd Division club FSV Frankfurt in the 1987. The 3rd Division in Germany could be compared to "AAA Minor League Baseball" in the United States or so called semi-pro. Udo spent two seasons from 1987 to 1989 in Germany's 3rd highest soccer league.
1989 marked a new beginning in Udo's soccer life. He began his coaching career in a big way, by getting a job as coach and youth goalkeeper trainer at one of Germany's biggest pro-soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt. The club was founded in 1899 and is one of the original team's that started the German Bundesliga, which could be compared to being one of the original six teams that started the National Hockey League. Winners of four Bundesliga and one UEFA Cup title, Eintracht Frankfurt plays in a 52,000 seat stadium and has one of the strongest followings in Germany. For someone not familiar with German soccer, you could compare Frankfurt with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL or the Chicago Cubs of MLB for their large fan base and history.
Udo was in charge of training the entire club youth goalkeepers U10 to U18 and Head Coaching the U13 "B" team. Udo had the great opportunity to learn from one of the best German goalkeepers of all time; Uli Stein. Uli Stein played for the German National team in World Cups and European Championships. But his soccer education did not stop just with goalkeepers but also field players. Having the luxury to learn from great players like Karl-Heinz Korbel who holds the record for most Bundesliga games played at 602. He could be compared to Cal Ripken Jr in Major League Baseball. Udo Schenatzky had the privilege to learn from the best in a 1st Division Professional environment.
Udo had two major achievements at Eintracht Frankfurt, one of them was being part of the U17 Boys coaching staff that won the U17 Boys Bundesliga. Winning such a title is a major achievement that can be compared to winning a National Championship in College Sports in the United States. His second and most important achievement is the development of Eintracht Frankfurt's current starting goalkeeper Oka Nikolov
. Winning championships is great but what is more important for a great coach is developing players for the highest level possible. Udo Schenatzky wealth of knowledge, experience and philosophy has produced a top flight professional goalkeeper.
